About the Artist

Jared Smith

Greetings and welcome to my page. As the website implies, my name is Jared and I have been doing freelance photography and graphic design since the year 2000. Digital SLR (Single Reflex Lens) cameras had just recently become more advanced. My first professional DSLR was an Olympus E-10 which boasted a whopping 4MPixel image. My desire to mix beauty with functional purpose has been around since then, but the 4MP print size was very limiting to the size of the image and the quality was unachievable at the time. So I had shelved the idea for the time being.

In 2005 is when I entered into the traditional art world. I started with charcoal and graphite, my favorite pencil is the DESIGN Ebony, they aren’t paying me to say that I just like the thick lead and the creamy smooth lines it makes, both sharp and fine but is soft enough to make darks. In 2006 I moved into soft pastels which was a logical transition from Charcoal. In 2007 I began learning to use acrylic paints and have been specializing in these ever since. Though I have been known to use Oil Pastels and Watercolors.

Since I was already been familiar with graphic design, I also added digital drawing tablet to my repertoire but still love the traditional artwork the most.

And with that, I will close, if you are interested in learning more about me, feel free to click the contact button below and send me a message.

Thanks! and hope you enjoy my functional art!

Yours truly ~Jared
